Blade Job for Barotrauma.

This job is inspired by katana-focused media, featuring talents that provide buffs for using melee weapons. Blades start at a disadvantage compared to other jobs due to the lack of ranged weapon or utility perks. They are late bloomers, requiring multiple completed perk trees to reach their full potential. While weak early on, they become powerful in the mid-to-late game, capable of challenging abyssal monsters in death duels. However, survival often requires a medic on standby or powerful armor.

Increased experience mods can aid progression, as Blades scale better with higher levels than other jobs.

  • Talent Trees:
    • SWORD SMITH: Boosts to crafting and Weapons Skill, plus an optional crew buff talent.
    • BLADE MASTER: Various perks to enhance melee gameplay.
    • WARRIOR SPIRIT: Buffs for both the user and crew to improve combat survival.

Stats:

  • Helm: 5–15
  • Weapons: 40–50
  • Mechanical: 25–35
  • Electrical: 5–15
  • Medical: 5–20
  • The Blade has 15 more HP than other jobs, totaling 115 base HP.
  • Only 2 Blade players can be active at a time. In singleplayer, you can obtain 1 Blade at the start.
  • Blades spawn with Security Level ID Card Encryptors, granting Security-level access.

Katanas and Wakizashis:

Katanas are two-handed, while Wakizashis are one-handed. You can equip a katana to an empty belt slot by double-clicking it from your hotbar, allowing you to wear it on your hip. Double-click the katana in your belt slot to equip it in your hands. If the belt slot is occupied, equip it directly from the hotbar like a normal weapon.

Damaged Katanas and Wakizashis can be repaired with steel bars at any fabricator. Old versions can be mounted on weapon racks for display.

Extra Weapon Info:

Katanas and Wakizashis can deflect incoming projectiles or melee attacks. The hitbox is smaller than a riot shield, making them less effective but useful for buying time or suppressing human enemies. Characters hold katanas low, requiring movement to simulate deflection. Wakizashis are easier to use for deflection as they can be dual-wielded, though they have lower damage, durability, and limb-severing power. Note that unlike riot shields, users will still take some damage due to the thin hitbox.

Energy Cores:
Added Energy Cores last three times as long but require three times as long to recharge. Using an Energy Core with the HF Blade heals the user slightly per hit via MCFC Electrolytes. The Murasama increases attack speed by 10%.
